About ProcedurePricer

Hospital prices in the U.S. vary enormously, often by 10x or more for the exact same procedure at hospitals just miles apart. Since 2021, federal law has required every hospital to publish its prices in machine-readable files, but that data is scattered across thousands of individual hospital websites in inconsistent formats, making it almost impossible for an actual patient to use.

ProcedurePricer exists to fix that. We collect the price transparency files hospitals are required to publish, standardize them, and make them searchable in one place, so you can see what a procedure is likely to cost near you before you book it.

The Site is free to use, requires no account, and is supported by advertising rather than subscriptions or paywalls.

Where the Data Comes From

Pricing data is sourced directly from hospital-published price transparency files required under CMS Hospital Price Transparency rules, along with general hospital information published by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). We refresh this data on an ongoing basis as hospitals update their files.
